Two words (one hypened) - conveniently-placed grenade. If I ever have an underground emergency room with lab mice and vampires, I'm putting grenades everywhere. They're vital and feng shui.

It would be effective if just about every single monster movie ever made DIDN'T utilize it.

Sorry. Got carried away.

I loved it. I found myself firmly ingrained in the characters' outcome, fearing for their lives as though they were my own. And I honestly think it can be partially attributed to the camera technique.

Though people are getting nauseous, I would advise everyone to give it a shot. They'll give you your money back if you leave before watching the majority of the movie.

However . . . if there is one plot device that increasingly just leaves me yawning, it's that of the "I've got to go save my girlfriend who is apparently incapable of doing anything for herself." I know, I know, it's the feminist argument. And it would be effective if just about every single monster movie ever made utilized it. Just once, I'd like a girl to get a call from her boyfriend saying that he's fallen and can't get up and have a boyfriend in distress.

Just once.

Having said that, you're right. The plot really isn't what matters in this movie, and I found myself enjoying it nonetheless.

Kolby! I know you're in a foreign country, but I miss your smart cinematic commentary!

This just came out in Rennes, but I won't go see it because it's dubbed, and dubbing is, you know, kind of the dumbest thing ever. I'll have to check it out when I get back.

You know, that's the problem: manufacturers aren't giving people alternatives. I should have mentioned this in the post, but a good majority of homes nowadays come built with inlets above the fireplace for flat-panel televisions. So sad.

I've got a flat panel... guess where it's mounted? The wall. My neck hurts like hell after a movie and I find myself laying down just so I can see the whole screen. I hate it, but there's nowhere else to put the dang thing. It doesn't fit in the entertainment center of the TV it replaced and all the tables low enough to put it at eye level would explode if I put a TV on it. I can't even go out and buy a new table because I already spent all my money on the TV. Woe is me. ;)

Man, now I feel guilty for my lack of updates. I just haven't had the money to see movies anymore! Ah, well. I feel like I might have a rant in me that I could probably write up soon.
